On Nov. 1st, 2004, Dr. Tom Layton and his wife, Linda, attended the 54th Annual Conference on Exceptional Children. During the conference, the Council for Exceptional Children presented Dr. Layton with its Exceptional Children Division Distinguished Service Award.
Tom was one of 13 who received this award at a dinner that night at the Koury Convention Center/Sheraton Greensboro Hotel. This award is in recognition of the commitment, dedication, and significant contributions that he has made in North Carolina with exceptional children.
The Council does not present this award every year. In fact, in the 54 years that the Conference has been held, they have only presented these awards on three different occasions. The Laytons are very pleased at this recognition of Dr. Layton’s many years of devoted work.
