Dr. Layton Receives Award from Council for Exceptional Children

On Nov. 1st, 2004, Dr. Tom Layton and his wife, Linda, attended the 54th Annual Conference on Exceptional Children. During the conference, the Council for Exceptional Children presented Dr. Layton with its Exceptional Children Division Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Layton to teach in Nassau

Dr. Layton traveled to the Bahamas in June, 2004, to present a two-day workshop. Teachers from the School for the Blind, Center for the Deaf, Stapledon School for the Mentally Retarded, Programme S.U.R.E., Penn Pratt Education Unit, and special education teachers from regular schools attended. The topic was literacy assessment and intervention for the child with special needs. The workshop was sponsored by the Ministry of Education in the Bahamas and by the Extraordinary Learning Foundation.
